It does: recent and current data
Listings sorted by new, threads with comments, and search limited to the past hour, day, week, month or year.
Pushshift did two jobs: it archived Reddit's history and it made that archive searchable. No single service does both today. Apixstar covers the live half. This page is honest about the half it does not cover.

| You need | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Every post or comment from past years | Community archives such as Arctic Shift, or the Academic Torrents dumps | They hold the bulk history, including content since deleted |
| Comment search by exact date range | An archive with its own index | Reddit's search does not offer it |
| What is being posted right now | A live API such as Apixstar | Archives lag behind by weeks or months |
| Ongoing collection from today forward | A live API on a schedule | You build your own archive as you go |
| Moderation tooling | Pushshift, if you are an approved moderator | That is who it now serves |

Poll a community on a schedule and store what you get. You pay per 10 posts returned.
There is no archive behind the API. If Reddit no longer serves a post, neither do we.
Load the archive up to its last date, then collect from that point with a scheduled job.

One poll of 50 posts every 10 minutes is 4,320 polls a month, which costs $15. A quiet community needs a smaller page and costs less.
Not to the public. Since 2023 Pushshift access has been limited to approved Reddit moderators, under an agreement with Reddit.
For historical data, community archives such as Arctic Shift and the Reddit dumps shared on Academic Torrents. For current data, the official API or a live third-party API.
Only what Reddit itself still serves. You can page back through a listing or search with a time range, but Apixstar does not keep an archive and cannot return deleted or removed content.
No. Pushshift indexed every comment and let you query by timestamp. Apixstar offers Reddit's own search with time ranges of hour, day, week, month, year or all.
An archive for the historical corpus, because it is complete and reproducible, and a live API to extend that corpus forward from the date the archive ends.
