Three ways to reach a thread

EndpointReturns
GET /reddit/v1/r/{community}/comments/{id}Post thread with comments
GET /reddit/v1/posts/{id}One post by id, with comments
GET /reddit/v1/comments/{id}One comment by id

A post and its first 200 comments

curl "https://api.apixstar.com/reddit/v1/posts/1abc2de?commentLimit=200" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
ParameterValuesWhat it does
commentLimitUp to 200, default 50Maximum comments returned with the post
includeChildrentrue or false, default trueInclude the comment tree, or return only the post

Why the thread matters more than the post

On Reddit the useful part is usually below the post: the correction, the first-hand experience, the disagreement. An API that bills per comment or per page of comments makes whole-thread analysis expensive. Here the whole thread is one flat-priced request.

Sentiment and opinion mining

Score a product or topic on what people actually reply, not on the headline of the post.

Datasets for models

Collect question and answer pairs or multi-turn discussions with their structure intact.

Support and feedback triage

Follow threads about your product and read every reply, including the ones buried deep.

Comments API questions

How many comments come back in one request?

Up to 200. The default is 50, and you raise it with commentLimit. The request costs the same either way.

Do I get replies, or only top-level comments?

A post request includes the comment tree with replies by default. Set includeChildren=false if you only want the post itself.

Can I fetch a single comment?

Yes. GET /reddit/v1/comments/{id} returns one comment by its id. The t1_ prefix is optional.

Can I look up a post without knowing its subreddit?

Yes. GET /reddit/v1/posts/{id} needs only the post id. The t3_ prefix is optional.
