Scraper API questions
Is this a scraper I have to run myself?
No. Apixstar is a hosted API. There are no proxies, browsers or parsers for you to operate. You make an HTTP request and get JSON back.
How do I collect every new post in a subreddit?
Call the community listing sorted by new on a schedule and keep the cursor or the ids you have already stored. Each call returns up to 100 posts, and you pay per 10 posts returned.
Can I filter out low-quality posts before they reach me?
Yes. Listings accept minScore, maxAgeHours and excludeAuthors, so you can drop low-score, old or bot-authored posts on our side.
What happens when Reddit blocks or throttles a request?
The request fails with a clear error code and you are not charged. Retry it later.
How fast can I go?
Up to 30 requests per second per account. Each listing request can return up to 100 posts.
Is scraping Reddit legal?
Apixstar returns content that is publicly visible on Reddit. Whether your use is lawful depends on what you do with the data and where you operate, and Reddit's own terms restrict some uses. You are responsible for that assessment. Our Terms of Service lists uses we do not allow.
Replace your scraper with one request
